Bill Gates -- 11 things did not learn in school

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school.
He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault , so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

If you don't agree stick your head in the sand and take a deep breath!

Secret Message by Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger was one of my favorite actor during my childhood. He used to be my hero, noted for his lead role in such films as Conan the Barbarian and The Terminator.

Currently serving as the 38th Governor of the state of California, yet still handsome and admirable.

Though I don't really cares about what happen in California, but Arnold Schwarzenegger made another epic.
In such an ordinary formal letter to the "Members of California State Assembly", a secret message (circled in red), intentionally or not, is eyes striking and exciting people!

In many circumstance of life, its the voice we usually dare not or feel rude to express, yet, it is truly what we thinking about and perhaps beneath for so long...

Now on, "Arnnie's letter" can be a polite substitution.. Impressive creativity huh?!

"Sincerely, Arnold Schwarzenegger"

Coca-cola in Mini

Coca-cola Co. will launch in December a sleek 90-calorie mini can instead of the standard 140, in Washington, D.C., New York City, and a roll-out to the rest of the United States is expected to be underway by March 2010.

Obviously, this smaller packaging has lesser calories and the price will be lower than the ordinary one. How far it will influence into the market?
As they claim, this kind of packaging is designed as part of the efforts to provide more choices and information to health-conscious consumers. But, I wonder does a health conscious consumer really drink coke to maintain or improve their healthy life?

Nevertheless, I do love coke. For me, yes, I will prefer this sleek mini coke once a while when hot weather, having the value meal of McDonald's or other special occasions. The standard size of coke now is a little too much for me, so cool when drinking under the hot sun, but rather uncomfortable when finish the whole can, the stomach is full of gas...then the next you know...urhhh...

Come to health issue, we know that obesity has been affecting younger and younger generation, and one of the factor is the unbalanced diet and junk food. Coke is one of the favorite drinks for youngsters. High sugar and high carbohydrate are the contents, but still people demanding for it.

Is this smaller mini coke a better offer for those calorie concern consumer and as an effort to control the healthy diet of young?
Yes, now you have a choice for smaller portion.
However, this can be a marketing attempt to penetrate larger group of consumers, especially the younger and innocent! Because it is smaller and cheaper, so, the kids with their few pennies pocket money can buy it themselves, without the knowledge of parents. Advertisement, cute and stylist outlook, and word of mouth, drinking soft drink is a lifestyle. So do kids following this kind of culture. Who cares about nutrition, diet, obesity, heart disease and health awareness?

These questions shall leave for those parents and I shall go for a can of coke from fridge now...

Secret and Religion

The Secret is currently a famous modern reading all about the Law of Attraction and the order of the universe... the Secret has become a hot topic being practice by many readers and so as received a lot of criticism.
In fact, I don't have any inevitable evidence about the existence of Law of Attraction.
I don't know how it works, what is the mechanism of Law of Attraction...it is placed within scientific fact and naive...we are lack of capability to solve...
If you would to argue with me whether The Secret is really works or it is just a fraud, I would say I don't know...but I believe...
Because of "I believe", hence, every goodwill happened to me, Law of Attraction is given the credit.

Every creature in our world, the trees, forest, building, bridge, animals, human, everything we see, we know and also those that we don't know... are all in the order of universe... Do you ever experience good luck, or bad luck, no taxi, raining, forget the door key, cell phone no battery... all happened in one day, is it simply just  a coincident?
There are a lot of things happened that we can't explain... indeed, human is only a fragile tiny creature... it is not surprising there are so many things out there that our current technology or science couldn't solve...isn't it?
Power is not only what we can see.

So as in term of religion, its the God...
Different religions has different believes about the appearance of God. Some in a puppet, stone, the sun, or even a piece of wood. Nevertheless, there is one similarity, religious believe the power of God which can decide everything. Therefore we pray to the God, ask for mercy, forgiveness, peace, health, wealth and everything we desired.

It is all about your thought

Runner

Graduated for almost 2 years. Most of my school mates are now part of the society's economic contributor, working from 8 to 5, (and may be overtime). Earn their first car, first house, first Rm100k, and not surprisingly, some are planning or even had get marry..build their own family, with kids and maid.. eventually wait for retirement..

This is so called "life"...

During the schooling age, examination result is the parameter for a person success..
During the working age, your income is the the indicator of your success..
During the retirement, wealth accumulated and your children's success, are your success..

This is the model lifestyle the society has built and instilled... everyone should follow this direction... and so forming the "machine life".. Even some of us may realized and that we hate it but still we are doing it.. and worst is that we ask our next generation to follow the very same path we went through as well.. Career makes people feel secured, proud and confident... we can't be jobless or can't even take the risk of jobless... money and material are such big and important issue in life... so many bills are waiting there...

Therefore, there are 5% in our population have seen the needs of the 95%... the boss will provide you the secured income, and you have to work 100 times harder than your salary has said.. 1 part for yourself and 99 parts are for your boss.. Boss will praise you "good job", "well done", and give you some benefits once in awhile... then you will feel so proud of yourself and give all your loyalty to those bosses... day by day... year by year... until you get old and no longer capable as you were younger... you need spectacles, your response is slow, you hardly catch up with new technology... and then suddenly you realize that your secured income is no longer secured...

This is so called "life"...

Most people have never realized that one day they will get old and die... its always too late when they realized.. Therefore, when you keep running like a machine, never aware of your machine's lifespan and maintenance, then you will be in big trouble when the time comes..and do remember that the rule of the life game is that it will never takes two..

Let me tell you a different version of story of race between tortoise and rabbit.
Running faster ahead doesn't guarantee the win until you reach the goal... When all the audiences are assuming that the rabbit is definitely the winner... they praise and admire the rabbit... the rabbit become very proud of itself and run very fast initially... but when the crowd is not there anymore at half way of the race track, the rabbit started to become lazy, bored and then it fall asleep... So, until the rabbit wake up, only it realizes that the race has already over...Where are the audience? they are now praising the tortoise and nobody remember how fast the rabbit was running at first...

The audiences are the boss. You are recognized when you are young and capable... but when it comes to the middle-age, the young generation which come later may over take you.. and you are still telling the same old story of how capable or brilliant once you were... In fact, most employers have already forgotten about your contributions in the pass... they are only concerned about the future and growth... then eventually you will be either retrenched or luckily retired...

If you are given a choice now, would you still want to be a short runner or a long runner?
Or just watch the race? Get yourself out of the race track.
